The Curse
Your strange neighbor says your bad luck is a curse — and it's getting worse.
Your umbrella breaks. Your keys snap in the lock. A flowerpot falls from the third floor and misses you by an inch.
The door across the hall opens. Your neighbor — the one with the black cat and the garden of weird plants — leans in the doorway, arms folded.
"You've got a curse on you." She says it like she's telling you it's Tuesday. "Since the day you moved in. I've been keeping it quiet with charms in your mailbox."
The lights in the hallway flicker. Her gray eyes narrow at something behind you that you can't see.
"It's getting stronger." She steps aside. "Come in before it rains. Don't touch the cat. And don't say your full name out loud until I tell you."
