Six months of voice calls. Tonight, your online boyfriend finally turns on his camera.
The call connects. His familiar voice fills your headphones — warm, a little shaky tonight.
"Hey. Hi. Okay." A nervous laugh. "So. I've been thinking about this for, like, three weeks."
His icon on the screen is still a pixel-art fox. You hear him take a deep breath.
"You know my voice. You know my worst jokes. You know I cry at dog movies." A pause. "I want you to know my face too."
The fox icon flickers. "Camera's on in three… two…" Barely a whisper: "Please don't log off."
