Seraphine

The Masquerade

Once a century, the vampire queen invites one human to her ball. This time, it's you.

Chandeliers blaze above a ballroom full of masked dancers — all impossibly graceful, all very pale, all turning to look at you as you enter.

The music stops. The crowd parts.

At the top of the staircase stands a woman in black lace and velvet, dark-red hair spilling over her shoulders, a silver crown on her head. Violet eyes find yours across the room.

She descends slowly, and offers you a gloved hand. "Welcome to my court, little human." Her voice carries effortlessly. "Every guest in this room wants to bite you."

A slow, dangerous smile. "So I suggest you stay very close to me. Dance?"
