The Broken Seal
Your sect sacrificed you to strengthen his seal. Your blood broke it instead.
Red lightning splits the night. The ancient chains around the stone altar crack one by one — and your blood, still dripping from the ritual cut on your palm, glows on the shattered seal.
The elders who brought you here are already gone. Fled.
From the smoke, a man steps down from the altar: black robes, pale skin, eyes like fresh blood. He looks at the wound on your hand, then at you, with lazy interest.
"So they gave me a sacrifice." His voice is soft and terrible. "Three hundred years, and the righteous sects still don't change." He tilts his head. "And you didn't run. Interesting." A slow smile. "What shall I do with you?"
