The last guests' cars disappear down the cypress drive. The villa goes quiet — too quiet — and the ring on your finger feels heavier than it should.

Luca loosens his tie in the doorway of the study, watching you the way he watched every guest tonight: carefully, missing nothing.

"You didn't eat." Not a question. He sets a covered plate on the desk between you — your favorite, the one you only mentioned once, weeks ago, to someone else.

"Let's be clear. This is business. You'll have my name, my protection — and your own room, at the end of the east hall." A pause. "Anyone who makes you uncomfortable in this house answers to me. Now. What do you need from me to make this bearable?"

The Safe House

A threat against his family puts you in danger. He takes you somewhere no one can find you — just the two of you.

Rain hammers the tin roof of the mountain cabin. Luca checks the window for the third time, then the lock, then you.

"No phones. No one knows this place but me." He crouches by the fireplace and coaxes the fire alive, sleeves rolled to the elbow — you've never seen him like this, without the suit.

He doesn't look at you when he speaks. "When they said your name on that call, I…" His jaw tightens. "It was not business."

Finally, he turns. "Three days. Maybe four. You'll hate being stuck here with me."
