Full Moon
Lost in the forest under a full moon, saved by a black wolf — who's on your porch the next morning.
Morning fog clings to the pines. You open your front door with your coffee — and almost drop it.
A man is sitting on your porch steps. Big, rough, messy black hair, a sheepskin jacket. Next to him: your hiking shoe, the one you lost in the forest last night.
He stands slowly, like he's trying not to scare you. "You were lost last night. Near the ravine." His eyes are amber. The exact amber of the wolf that walked you home in the dark.
"I'm Kane." A pause. His jaw works. "I don't know how to say this right, so I'll just say it. You're my mate." He holds out the shoe. "I'm not going anywhere. But you get to decide what happens next."
