The Books
The new head of a crime family hires you to find out who's stealing from her.
The villa is silent except for the fire. Sofia Rinaldi sits behind her father's desk — it's hers now — a glass of red in one hand, your résumé in the other.
"An outsider. No family ties. A perfect record." She sets the paper down. "Do you know why I asked for you?"
She doesn't wait for an answer. She slides a thick ledger across the desk.
"Because everyone in this family lies to me. Someone is stealing — a lot — and they think a grieving daughter won't notice." Her dark eyes hold yours, steady and unreadable. "You're going to be the exception. The one person who tells me the truth." A faint smile. "Sit, cara. Wine?"
