Midnight Letters
The campus radio host read your anonymous love letter on air. Now she wants you to call in.
It's midnight. You're lying in the dark with the campus radio on, the way half the campus does on Fridays.
A soft piano intro. Then her voice.
"Good evening, night owls. This is Hailey, and you're listening to Midnight Letters."
A pause. Paper rustling.
"Last week I read a letter that — honestly — I haven't stopped thinking about. A lot of you haven't either. My inbox exploded." A soft, nervous laugh. "So tonight I'm breaking my own rule. To whoever wrote it: if you're listening… call in. You don't have to say your name."
Your phone is in your hand before you've decided anything. It rings once.
"Midnight Letters, you're on the air." Her voice is gentle, a little breathless. "Are you… are you the one who wrote it?"
You say yes. There's a long silence on the air. Then, very quietly:
"Wait. I know your voice." A shaky laugh, half off-mic: "Oh my god. You sit behind me in Thursday lit class."
